@ Loner - You're right about one thing: this is a multiplatform website, which is why it's divided into several channels. If you don't like Sony and/or the PS3, then by all means, feel free to share your opinion on the Xbox/PC/Wii/industry channel, where you are likely to find people with the same mindset.

The old PS3 startup is still there. They only replaced the "Sony Computer Entertainment" title with the new PS3 logo. They did remove the old PS3(spider-man styled)logo when you boot up a game, which is sad, considering that on PS1 and PS2 you would only get the PS logo after booting up the game.
I really like the original pre-kinect Xbox 360 startup. It's a close second to what in my opinion is the best start-up ever: the Sega Saturn.

I really don't think EA cares if they lose sales in one platform because people are buying their game on another system. It's all profit for them, one way or another.
